Fluvial Geomorphology And Erosion Advice Grounded In How Rivers Work.

FWS applies fluvial geomorphology to understand how rivers, gullies and catchments have changed, why erosion or deposition is occurring and which management response is most likely to work on the ground.

What FWS Can Help With.

Geomorphic assessment can combine field reconnaissance, historic aerial imagery, LiDAR, cross-sections, hydrology, hydraulics and sediment evidence. The scale of work can range from a targeted bank or gully investigation to catchment-scale reconnaissance and historic river change analysis.

The same process understanding can support river rehabilitation, environmental recovery, gully remediation, in-stream sand extraction, sediment assessment, environmental flows and monitoring design. Where useful, FWS can link geomorphology with TUFLOW or HEC-RAS modelling, hydrology and hydraulics, UAV LiDAR change detection, mine erosion assessment and landform evolution modelling (LEM).
